Pick a Little and Share a Lot

 

WHAT IS IT? The Burnley Fruit Squad is a volunteer program linking fruit pickers with fruit tree owners in Richmond so that excess fruit can be harvested and distributed within the community

WHO RUNS IT? The Richmond Community Learning Centre with support from the City of Yarra.

HOW DOES IT HELP THE COMMUNITY?

  • It shares free, fresh, local produce which might otherwise go to waste, with those who might not easily access fresh food through the Richmond Churches Food Centre.
  • It has a positive impact on the environment by reducing landfill.
  • It enables skill sharing between householders and volunteers,
  • and foster social connections in the community.
