RCLC Food Relief Program
There has been a strong response from within our community looking for ways to support vulnerable community members, particularly with food relief. We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Belgium Avenue Neighbourhood House (BAHN) with their ‘Lifting Spirits’ Food Security Program. The program has been a huge success running out of the North Richmond Housing Estate, supplying pantry items, fresh food and household staples to folk doing it tough in this challenging time.
If you know of anyone who is in need and could benefit from this program, please let us know and we can deliver a bag of goods to them directly.
This is where you come in. We are asking our generous and active community to donate goods for the program. After discussions with BAHN, the following are items that are particularly of need;
Cleaning, Laundry and Bathroom items: Laundry detergent, toilet paper, household cleaning items, and toiletries
Pantry items: Olive oil, rice, soy sauce, noodles, sugar, tea, lentils, flour, maize flour, tofu, soybeans, salt, coffee and milk, chickpeas, pasta, canned tomatoes, coconut milk.
There’s more! We need fabric bags for the distribution of the donated goods. If you are interested in helping our crafters sew bags we will put you touch with Anne and Merril for patterns and fabric.
We are also hoping to provide some Winter woollies, if you would like to knit scarves and beanies, we can help you with patterns and yarn
AND finally, if you are making masks and have some to donate, these will be distributed at the North Richmond Housing Estate.
Please show your support for this worthwhile initiative, together we can make a difference!
The drop-off point is at Studio 1 (behind Patch café on Bendigo St).
We are currently working our way through the Stage 4 restrictions to ensure this program can continue, and we ask you not to drop-off any further donations until we can confirm details.
