About the class:
Yin Yoga is a slower paced class where 4 or 5 Yoga shapes, usually seated or lying, are held for 3 to 4 or even 5 minutes to allow a deep physical release of muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons.
This practice is supported using yoga props (blocks and bolsters, which are supplied).
You can expect to be guided gently into a deep meditative state of rest and relaxation and guided through a theme for the class before finishing with a Yoga Nidra (a mini guided relaxation and mindfulness practice).
Yin is great for anybody looking for a deep restorative practice and can help release ingrained postural tension and mind traps. By practising Yin, you will progress deeper into stretching, relaxation and meditation.
What do I wear?
These classes are accessible to everyone. You don’t need any special yoga clothes. Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable to move around your mat, including if you are bending forward (ie: you might want a t-shirt that does not ride up or that you can tuck in).
What do I need to bring to yoga?
Your yoga mat, a towel to cover your bolster if you are practising Yin Yoga, water and a smile. If you don’t have a yoga mat and can’t source one, speak to Trace for suggestions. We will have a limited number of mats available to borrow for class.
About the teacher:
Trace is a professional Yoga teacher with advanced qualifications in Yin Yoga. Trace is currently studying Allied Health Assistance, Sport and Fitness at Swinburne University, which is a comprehensive course designed to allow me to assist clients in rehabilitation from injury or illness.
Trace is a Richmond local and passionate about our community. Post the COVID Trace is offering accessible yoga classes from the Studio 1 space to help the community recover from a difficult 2020. Yoga can assist with depression and anxiety as well as general relaxation. Trace holds both First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certificates and has a keen interest in community health and well-being.
